Caymus Vineyards was founded over 45 years ago by the Wagner family, who is revered for their long history of winemaking and philosophy to continually improve the quality of their wines.  They regularly seek out different regions, finding diverse sources of top-quality grapes and experiment with new farming techniques producing incredible wines that pair tradition with innovation.

Early Days

Chuck Wagner has spent his life in the vineyards of Rutherford, near the center of Napa Valley, steering his family’s business from its earliest beginnings to the present day. He was just 19 when he joined his parents in 1972 to create Caymus Vineyards, taking them up on their proposal to sell the home wines they had been making. Through the years, he has been recognized for his winemaking and industry leadership.

Meet the Winemakers

100% family-owned, Chuck and his children oversee all aspects of the business. Their focus remains on farming grapes and overseeing 350 acres of choice Napa Valley Land. 

Chuck Wagner

Chuck Wagner has spent his life in the vineyards of Rutherford, near the center of Napa Valley, steering his family’s business from its earliest beginnings to the present day. Through the years, he has lived through many changes and has been recognized for his winemaking and industry leadership – but he still holds onto a deep humility as well as appreciation for great wine, family and the connections between the two.

Charlie Wagner

Charlie Wagner is owner and winemaker for Mer Soleil winery in the Santa Lucia Highlands in Monterey County. Making both Chardonnay and a recently released Pinot Noir under the Mer Soleil label, he is passionate about how these wines reflect the drama and rugged beauty of the California coast.

Jenny Wagner

Jenny is the newest member of the Wagners to join the family business as winemaker for Emmolo Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot. Emmolo is named after Jenny’s maternal family, and was launched twenty years ago by her mother, Cheryl Emmolo. Since high school, she had a strong desire to continue on the Emmolo legacy and is proud to say she is doing just that.
